CSCvn78624 - FMC Upgrade to 6.3 failed due to phantom "missing reference" error

Had the same fatal error when upgrading the Cisco Firepower management Virtual Centre from 6.2.2.5, using upgrade from 6.2.2 or 6.2.3 to 6.3. Device is at version 6.2.0.6

Reached 42% upgrade progress before the upgrade failed to install with the following message: The upgrade failed on while running 800_post/017_fix_cip_rules.pl.

in the logs it says [ERROR] Reference Missing ...

After the upgrade from 6.2.2.5 to 6.2.3 failed, I restored from a veeam backup the CFM ver 6.2.2.5 and it works OK.

Now instead of upgrading the CFM directly to 6.3, I tried to upgrade from 6.2.2.5 to 6.2.3-92.

So first I run a readiness check for version 6.2.3-92

I am at 24 hours upto now, and in my tasks windows I have received for the past 15 hours the following:

"Readiness Check for version: 6.2.3-92

encountered object 'Update Installation Failure : Unable to Detect Detached Startup at /usr/local/sf/lib/perl/5.10.1/SF/Update.pm line 1606,', but neither allow_blessed nor convert_blessed settings are enabled"

My devices are at 6.2.0.6 level

Any ideas?
