CSCvs78970 - Nexus 34180YC running 9.2(2) with MTU set to 1500 only lets MTU 1499 or lower pass.

Also note the workaround listed is only a partial workaround, because certain
routing processes (BGP, EIGRP) will try to use what they think the maximum MTU
is and then run into trouble.

 

Unfortunately then the only real workaround is to use them only as layer 2 switches and not layer 3, unless your use case layer 3 is satisfied with static routing only.

I’ve run into this issue as well on L3 interfaces on 9.2.3. So I moved these to being straight up L2 switches for 10g connections between hybrid servers. All ports used for that were setup for jumbo mtu, trying the system settings, the old qos config for jumbo and setting the MTU on each port, only to find that even with the 9216 mtu on the ports, they would drop any frame over 1499. 

these things are basically paper weights for now, until my VAR gets them back to Cisco.
