Can anyone provide us with a way around this issue with devices on which the password was lost.
The provided workaround stops the boot-loop, but does not help the user with a device recovery.

what device model is this ?, if both setup 1 hard to recover.

Turn this feature OFF!
If someone has managed to "crack the password" then the issue is not "just the password" but, rather, someone has managed to gain physical access to your network.
