Failed to register Smart License

Experiencing the same issue with a brand new Prime 3.9 install when trying to register using smart licenses. "Registration failed due to Communication send error."

1. check the connectivity to smart license portal from prime. it should have access to internet.

2. there is known bug. check if that applied to you. if so open support case.

Steps described in the article done but still have the issue. Can't licensing my Cisco Prime Infrastructure 3.9

I have a customer who has upgraded from 3.8 to 3.10 and now has the same issue.

I share their concern that there is no published fix for this.

CSCvy55255 does say both 3.9 and 3.10 are affected.

3.10 is the latest release.

What timeline should we expect for Cisco to fix this bug with a new release?

in 3.10 "ip dnssec" is default enabled, try to disable it....

Disabling ip dnssec did it for me. Thanks for the tip @jduvier

This was resolved by......

  • We backed up the existing call_home_ca file, then replaced it with the new call home file updated the file permission of the file as below and restarted the ncs services

 

-rwxrwxr-x. 1 prime gadmin 19812 Feb 17 20:29 call_home_ca

 

  • After this we were able to successsfully register the Prime for Smart Licensing.

I updated this fix in another thread...and someone else posted what they did to resolve it which was basically the same..
