DNAC - Fabric - Replacing switches with a newer model process

We will be replacing C9300-24P-A with the C9300-48UXM-A devices as our Border/Control node devices in our Fabric sites. Being that there will be some configuration differences, is the only way to transition to the newer switches to start from scratch and rebuild the fabric site?

Example:

Remove fabric settings in DNAC for that specific site, remove devices from fabric, remove from inventory *including c9300-48p (edge nodes), remove from pnp, etc, basically remove the entire site and then restart the onboarding/lan automation process again as it was a new site?

In the past using same switch types we've always just used the "mark for replacement" when swapping switches out which worked great but since were switch models as interfaces/config will be different, I don't think that's an option.

Was able to make the swaps with some trial and error.

Example C9300-24p (stack of 2) as Border/Core Switch.

Pre req: Make sure software vers are the same (if not it will grab it from slot 1 switch). Also record the Uplink port information.

1. Uncable and remove Switch 2

2. Replace with 48p UXM Switch and re-cable

2a. Wait for it to become apart of the stack.

3. Log into the switch stack and configure the uplink manually

4. In DNAC. Navigate to the Fabric Site and Select "Details" on the Border. Record VN info.

5. Cancel and then select "Configure" on the Border Node.

5a. Delete the secondary Uplink (example Gig2/0/24).

5b. Deploy. Re-create the secondary Uplink (Twe/2/0/48). Deploy.

6. Configure any Host Onboarding port assignments as those will not carry over.

7. Once complete, verify connectivity over secondary uplink. Once done rinse and repeat for Switch 1.
