Hi All,

I have been suggested to add L-DNA license min tier while ordering cat8300 routers in autonomous mode. i wnat to know:

1. why L-DNA with min tier required.

2. how bandwidth throttling works without DNA license.

Hello avdheshkumar,

1. A DNA subscription is a mandatory attach on Catalyst 8000 series routers.

See following snip from the 8200/8300 ordering guide.

2. In the C8K platform, there's no bandwidth throttling per se, you license the box based on the IPSEC/SDWAN traffic required. Take a look at the DNA for SD-WAN/routing ordering guide - section Bandwidth Entitlement.

If you however intend to deploy the C8K in traditional routing with no IPSEC/SDWAN, then you can select the lowest bandwidth tier of the platform and that will still unlock the full CEF performance of the hardware. There are no software limiters on C8Ks as compared to ISR4Ks.

Regards,

Pablo.
