Testing Basic Port Connectivity on 3560

Hello.  I have a bunch of 3560, 48 port, switches.  I need a basic knowledge that the ports are functional.  I was thinking for this I would simply disable STP on vlan 1, disable keepalive on fa0/1-48, and then plug in a loopback plug on each port and watch for a green blinking light.

Would this give me a basic knowledge of port functionality?

 Best way to do this is using a professional tool like Fluke but the test you propose will at least unsure that it is fine physically.
