Wireless Controller 9800 Firmware Upgrade Failed

Hi Support Folks,

I've downloaded WLC firmware 17.9.6 into bootflash WLC but unable to run installation. It's prompted error as bellow from the controller user interface.

Reason: CONSOLE: Install operation is not allowed

install_add: START Sun Dec 29 23:02:30 Singapo 2024
FAILED: install_add : CONSOLE: Install operation is not allowed.
 Reason -> Other install operation is already in progress.
 Action -> install commit/remove of previously added image.

Did you try command?

install remove inactive

Try below commands and check if that helps. 

install deactivate file <path>
install remove inactive

conf t
 service internal
end
clear install state

The last command will reboot the WLC.  

After the reboot, re-do the install command.

Hi All Community Folks,

After further checking I realize the APSP package still existed and not activate and commit. After activated and committed I'm able to download and install IOS XE 17.9.6 in WLC.
