About CML2.8.1

I’m running router and switch simulations in Cisco Modeling Labs 2.8.1 (CML2) on a browser. After about an hour, the browser session seems to time out or freeze, and I can no longer interact with the lab. Each time this happens, I’ve been forced to reboot the CML2 VM on VMware and start my testing all over again.

Do you know what could be causing this, and how I can prevent it?

What nodes are you running in your lab?

Disclaimers: I am long in CSCO. Bad answers are my own fault as they are not AI generated.

Hi Ramblin Tech

I'm testing OSPF on three routers, testing trunk and access ports on three switches etc.
The nodes are quite simple.
This kind of issue occurs regardless of which devices are used,
so it seems likely to be either a misallocation of resources to the CML VM
or
a configuration issue on the controller side.

This is probably because it’s being used together with the free version. Does anyone know how to remove the free version?

If you look at the file sizes and checksums for the free versions of CML images vs the paid versions, you will see that the images are exactly the same. That is, the free-tier capabilities are governed by the license that is applied to the installation.

You might extract the lab configs, download the lab yaml, and then upload it here. That way others could try to duplicate your results with systems that have different configurations than yours. This would narrow down the issue to something unique to your system, or something independent of yours.

No matter which node is used, the session will be disconnected after one hour, so I’ll upload a simple node file.

Since extended files with the .yaml extension can’t be uploaded here, I’ll temporarily change the extension to .txt before uploading.
Once you download it, please rename the extension back to .yaml.

I think the free-tier capabilities are governed. But I don't know how to deal with it.
