Hi there,

I am new to CML and I just finished installing it on my server. I was wondering, how can I add the supplementary refplat iso to CML 2.8 so I can access SDWAN and firepower images? Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hi @decyberworld You can either mount the refplat ISO file via CD/DVD mount or scp the file to CML server and copy the supplementary refplat ISO in the CML cockpit. Sharing the instruction from our docs below.

Totally unhelpful. WHERE DO YOU DOWNLOAD THE refplat iso IN THE FIRST PLACE?

Kipandiy answered the question I asked, if you want to know where to download the ISO from, that is totally fine but don't say the answer was totally unhelpful. To download the ISO, you go to Cisco download page for CML https://software.cisco.com/download/home/286193282/type

How do you download the "refplat iso" in the first place?

"...scp the file to the CML server...". Where do you get the file?

Hi @avraham-sonenthal i was out of office. sorry for the delay. Once you scp the supplemental refplat ISO file following our docs, the file will be stored under /var/local/virl2/dropfolder/. All we need to do is just login to CML cockpit (:9090) > go to CML2 section> click on "copy refplat ISO" button in the CML cockpit which will start copying all the supplemental sd-wan images in a short time. Please make sure you have sufficient storage space and labs stopped.

Post copy process, you can go to the CML dashboard labs and you can see the sdwan nodes in the node palette. you can add those nodes and start it which will boot in few minutes.

@kipandiy Does this mean that after mounting or copying the ISO file, SD WAN nodes will show up in CML, and there is no need to load SD WAN node definitions and other necessary stuff when creating custom nodes?

Hi @iores yes, you're right. after Copying the ISO file, the SDWAN will show up in CML which is ready to boot in the lab. All sd-wan node and image definitions will get copied in the refplat file copy process itself. no need to add any additional node definitions.

Hello Kipandy, Apologies to bother as bit confusing to me, I am using CML2.8 and want to add supplement file in the existing CML, first I need to copy the existing cml file in cockpit but it gives the error, what next to do please, how can I copy supplement file to cml cockpit please? do you have any step by step guide or any video link as cisco one is not so helpful as giving error or of disc or no iso file when i try to copy it. thank you for your help .

Hi @Jawad Hassan 1 Could you please elaborate your issue on that existing cml file. is it the default refplat ISO file?

Do you still get issue after following the steps from our docs?

https://developer.cisco.com/docs/modeling-labs/copy-refplat-iso-to-disk/

As per the error, I guess the supplemental ISO file was neither mounted on your VM nor uploaded to CML via SCP. If the ISO is still mounted or uploaded to CML via SCP, please verify if the downloaded file is not corrupt. Verify its MD5 checksum comparing it from the cisco download site. https://software.cisco.com/download/home/286193282/type/286326381/release/2.8.0

It's 2025, it's not acceptable to expect people to use cd/dvds to do this and scp is not a reliable way. If cisco expects people to use this over EVE-NG and GNS3 it needs to be usable.
