Hi,
I have a Cisco WS-C3750G-24PS stack running a very old version of code 12.2(35)SE5 C3750-IPSERVICES-M. I am looking to upgrade this to 122-55.SE12 c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.
We did upgrade a switch earlier in the year from a IPSERVICES-M image to an ipservicesk9-mz image and it completely broke the switch but our 3rd party Cisco partner said we didn't do anything wrong in the upgrade. This switch I am looking to upgrade is a critical switch so I can't make any mistakes. Does anyone know if I should not upgrade from 12.2(35)SE5 C3750-IPSERVICES-M to 122-55.SE12 c3750-ipservicesk9-mz?

i have done upgrades, never seen any issue.
1. make sure take the config backup out of the box
2. c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.122-55.SE12.bin (copy the image to switch) - if the switch has space issue, you need to delete OLD firmware and copy new firmware.
if stack you need to delete all flash1 : 2 and so on
#delete flash1:image.bin (old image file)
#copy tftp: flash: c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.122-55.SE12.bin
#verify /md5 flash:/c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.122-55.SE12.bin
config)#boot system switch all flash:c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.122-55.SE12.bin
# write mem
# show boot (verify)
#reload
Note : make sure if this stack, you have switch priority in place along with switch numbers

Hi Balaji,
Many thanks for that info. The upgrade we formed a while ago that broke the switch must have been some kind of hardware fault or something like that.

I may take this as co-incident, always advised to many clients, if the stack up more than years, reboot and upgrade as advised.
