Dear All

i have a problem with Cisco VG224 not booting, 1st time i used a console and it was at rommmon mode. i tried booting it but it went to show errors like the following and im unable to get it back to rommon mode again. i tried multiple break sequences but it is not responding and each time i reboot it it is showing the below errors and stops there with no further response.

i have tried google-ing the solution and looking online but no luck. is this possible to recover this or i have to replace it?

Hi Omar,

Based on the logs above, the problem is related with a hardware fault.

Please consider VG224 will reach the EOL milestone at 2020 (next year) so this may be a good opportunity to study a hardware upgrade nearly on the future.

I will leave you with the EOL announcement in the link below:

hello

thanks for responding. is there a possible way to get it back to rommon at least?

just remembered.

i have issued the following command at when it was at rommon then it became like this

confreg 0x2102

reset

did this possibly brick my device? is there any restoration process for it at least?

Hi Omar,

The command "confreg" is the same command than config-register under global configuration mode in IOS.

What you did with that command was to specify to the Router that within each booting session, it has to load the startup-configuration. In case you are asking yeah, this should be your default config-register value.

Having said that, I do not believe this has broken your device. Is it possible for you to share with me the loop of the booting session, I would be happy to confirm my initial statement or let you know if I am able to see something different.

Regards,
Eduardo
