Hello folks,

I am trying to upgrade a Cisco 3750G to fix stack mismatch.

I have undone the stack and trying to upgrade those switches with new IOS.

I get "!o!" using tftp so I used;

USP-CISCO-SW5#archive download-sw /overwrite /reload tftp: flash:
Could not buffer tarfile...using multiple downloads
examining image...
%Error opening tftp: (Invalid IP address or hostname)
%Error opening flash:update/info (No such file or directory)
ERROR: Image is not a valid IOS image archive.
USP-CISCO-SW5#

stil I get error.

Please advsie what I should do to get this working correctly? reset the sw to factory default? trying to avoid doing that.

Hello again,

this image listed below has key word "tar" in it.

is this the image that is used when Upgrading using Archve-Sw command? I understand that command syntax uses .tar format and not a bin!?

reason being that I might as well upgrade all my switches using this image so all have same IOS before I create stacks.

thanks for the info Leo. i was under the impression that all Cisco 3750 model Switches can use same IOS only different in features!? although, uploading this image was a silly mistake to begin with.

I will update using this image.

Any advise on this IOS please?

Sorry for the delay responding. been busy working on these switches. Ok, I was able to load the latest to one Switch using Xmodem. I then, used tftp to load the same image to one the two remaining switches. I deleted the old IOS from Flash: no problem but the seocnd SW gives Error deleting saying Flash is a directory.

One other problem,after deleing the Old IOS from the one switch and I reloaded teh Switch I got this error at boot up yet it booted to teh only IOS (teh new one which was in flash). below:

So, I am confused about this flash being a directory and i tried using . and ./ and / but no use.

Hi Leo,

it was able to delete the old IOS in the flash using:

delete /recursive /force flash:/c3750-ipbasek9-mz.122-37.SE1

however, after reloading the switch i still get this error message:

Is the switch in ROMmon? If it is, post the complete output to the command "dir flash:".

NO,

the switches loaded correctly after showing that error while booting. I then check the flash, sh ver ad all seemed to be correct with correct IOS in flash for those Switches!?

Switches were boxed and just left for their destination. I will have access to them next Monday morning. i even created stack and tested and all showed as expected. remove stack cables and powered off the switches so they can box and load.

I am not sure why the should show such error at boot up yet booting up to the right images. for one Sw I had problem removing the old IOS from the flash that I did using that recursive command. I am only assuming that the error was because if this directory structure that now exist in these switches when it comes to Flash: something that did not exist before!?

if not a problem, I will capture files and send to your attention on Monday when I have access to those switches again.

Thanks so much for your help. the switches are loading with new IOS and no problem. I was able to delete the old one from the flash some by recursive method and some just normal!? that I could not understand.

Hi Leo,

well, I got those flash issues resolved. I have a different question on this same topic. file attached. in this text file attached, you will see that I have created a stack of 3 3750G switches so I be able to use all up links as trunk bringing in all nodes at this stack and then a port-channel from this stack to the core ( 2x gig ports).

In doing so, although it did what we had expected to do, but I have 72 copper ports that are left unused. can I create SVIs and use those copper ports as access (L3) while I have all these up links as trunk connecting all 8 nodes to the core Switch.?

I am not sure if I had explained it well but you can also see the text file please.

Hi OK, This is what messed things up last Friday.

I loaded new IOS using TFTP: c3750e-ipbasek9-mz.122-55.SE12.bin" but i was getting Out of Order packets transferred. I thought may be due to flash size and I deleted the IOS that was in Flash already to make room for this new one but i still saw Out of Order packets.

Now, the SW doesn't load because the IOS in Flash is corrupt. "c3750e-ipbasek9-mz.122-55.SE12.bin".

I believe deleted IOS was:

"flash:c3750-ipbasek9-mz.122-44.SE1

I am not sure what to do at this point because if I reset the SW to factory default there is no Good IOS in the Flash!?

Any advise that could help me load the original IP Base IOS to I get the Sw working?

Hi,

I decided to copy IOS from standalone SW to my tftp but even that one gives errors. I tried command with flash being a directory and without it yet same thing! I use tftp 32. The strange part is that I do not see a “root” folder for the tftp32. Uninstalled and installed again but same problem.

At this point my only option seems to be Xmodem to upload an image to that broken Switch however, I cannot find and download a hypertermunal that could do the task. Even Exra Putty cannot give me that Xmodem option.

I have tried all tips and tricks that I know and am running out of options.

I only have the RMON option which is OK as the Sw is not in production yet but even that requires applications that I do not have.As mentioned even extra Putty could not do it and i am not aware of any downloadable captivation hat ca work like Hypoer-terminal.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
