As an update to the OpenStack Learning Labs in the Cisco DevNet site, a new version of the lab including OpenStack Mitaka deployed using Kolla is now available.

OpenStack Kolla provides tools to deploy OpenStack services as Docker containers and to upgrade easily. To help developers and admins wanting to explore Kolla and OpenStack, we now have an updated virtual machine image available in DevNet with the Mitaka version of OpenStack.

Visit the Cisco DevNet OpenStack site and launch the learning lab by clicking the Learn -> Openstack on your Laptop.

Feel free to post follow up questions and discussions here in the OpenStack DevNet Community.

Thanks for your work putting this together. I shared with people during my OpenStack talk this week at the Red Hat Summit, and they found it to be very educational and useful.

Is there a link to the ciscolive_kolla_mitaka.ova file anywhere?

Billy, if using one of the learning lab stations the CiscoLive event this week in Vegas, the OVA should be on the desktop of each machine. If using your own laptop, you can access the OpenStack learning lab directly at

https://learninglabs.cisco.com/#/labs/openstack-install/step/1

Once there, there is a link at the top of each step that says something along the lines of "Setting up your Own Machine". If you click on that it opens up additional instructions, including the link from which to download the OVA.

The disk size was too small for what I wanted to do, can I create my own .ova with a bigger disk?

Sure. Within VirtualBox, power off the VM, go to Settings -> Storage, remove the existing 40 GB disk, and create a new 60 GB disk.

Then from the command line, use the clonemedium command to copy the old disk to the new disk, then add the new 60 GB disk. See (Chapter 8. VBoxManage) for details.

It should work with Fusion, but I how not tested/verified that. Please give it a try and let us know how it goes.

to work

ifconfig in the VM doesnt list the ip addresses set

When you say "in the VM", do you mean in the VM that should be at 10.200.200.10, or within a VM that you launched within OpenStack?

Within the VM that should be at 10.200.200.10, I get the following:

The output is similar when u run the VM on virtual box however in Fusion you see only 3 Nics

the fusion is set as the vbox vm in terms of network adapters and ip addresses
