API for controlling MWI for Jabber clients

Hi guys,

I am looking to see if there are any APIs for controlling the Message Waiting indicator in the Jabber clients.

We are using TAPI for standard IP Phones and the IP Communicator, but the Jabber clients are not supported via this API.

Is anyone aware of alternatives?

Jabber doesn’t do anything with the MWI status on the line for whatever reason. The voicemail icon’s badging is based on unread messages in the signed in voicemail account.

If you’re trying to trigger that somehow my off-the-top-the-head guess is to deliver a message to that inbox and then delete it when the message is cleared? That’s lame in a way. Perhaps a custom tab or notification via IM is the way to go.

thanks Adam, I had come to a similar conclusion, but was hopeful there was something i had overlooked.
