All,
First, thanks for your time.
A large part of our workforce is not assigned a phone. In some areas you may have 20+ people who "share" a phone/extension. How do we handle Caller ID info? Based off what I have seen so far. If we have those 20+ users listed at the same extension Jabber will pick the first user it comes across (or alphabetically)
These public phones are not assigned to a users and are generic with generic titles (eg Pediatrics 2nd Floor Nurses station). How do I make Jabber display that information instead of a random user who has that number listed in their call manager profile?
Got any best practices?
Thanks
rb

Hi Richard,
I think this requires some additinal details. Is it something like set of people going to share a phone and when they call to a jabber user, it is expected to show something like "Pediatrics 2nd Floor Nurses station" instead of random names.
1. This shared phone is associated with any end user?
2. How about configuring alerting name and ASCII alerting name in the directory number configuration?

Correct. you have 20 nurses who "share" a phone at a nurses station. They list their numbers in The phone system as that shared number. Jabber will report a random user instead of reporting the generic name for the phone.
1. Phone is not associated with any user or account
2. That is configured but Jabber seems to pull data from either AD or UDS.

If i have understood correctly, each nurse will have an LDAP account and all of them have the same number configured as their telephone number. If so, you may try the following though i havent tested it.
1. Remove the telephone number configured for those users or modify it to a different number, so that you can see if the configured alerting name is displayed
2. As long as an end user has the called/called number configured matching as telephone number, only that will get dispalyed.

Were you able to make anything work? We essentially have the same issue with 10+ professors who may have the same front office number listed. My preference would be to choose the search order Jabber uses for Caller ID lookup, but I would take just about anything at this point.

I didn't get any satisfactory solutions to this issue either. One question tho, how do you change the caller id lookup order in jabber?
I know we arent the only users having this problem. Someone has to have this figured out.
