Cisco Jabber Audio Device Preferences

I would like help figuring out why my Jabber doesn't switch back to my preferred audio device when I get new calls.

For some more back ground: at my work I use a windows 10 computer with Jabber. I have a wireless headset and a wired conference speaker both made by Jabra. (to be specific the "Jabra Link 370" and the "Jabra SPEAK 410 USB")

I am currently the newest guy in our small office that does a lot of customer service work. I frequently switch from headset to the speaker so that my coworkers can hear what's going on and help give input.

This is where the issue comes in. When I switch to the speakerphone in the call options during the call, the next time I answer a call Jabber overrides my audio settings and connects with the speaker instead of my headset.

I have already played around with the settings in Jabber. I have set the headset to be default in that advance page in audio settings. I have also gone as far as to set the headset as the default audio input and output option in windows.

I usually resort just to unplugging the speaker because that is easier, and I don't have to reset my audio preferences after every call, and when I need it in a call I just plug it in. I would like to be able to use the features as intended and it just doesn't seem to work right. Or maybe I have misunderstanding of how the audio preference priority list thingamajig is supposed to work.

Attached is a screen shot of my advanced audio options page

You're misunderstanding how it works, that's not a written in stone setting which is used all the time, that's really used when you start Jabber and have many devices you can use to set your preference of which of the devices should have a higher preference, depending on available/connected devices.

On the Audio settings page you will see the active device, when you switch to the speaker mid-call, the speaker will be the active device shown in that page, and if you go to the advanced audio settings you'll see the blue check mark on the speaker meaning that it's the actively selected device.

It keeps whatever was the last selected device by the user assuming they want to keep using it.

If you remove the active device from the computer, then as an audio device is needed, it will go through the list of preferred/available devices and will choose from the available devices in the list.

Hi - Saw your replies on related headset content so thought i'd ask...

We get huge volume of calls to our Service Desk for headset not working and large number just have their jabber speaker/mic settings for their PC instead of the headset they always use.  They may or may not have the "when you connect a new device" setting at lock or switch.  We employ education/training of users but it is not foolproof.  Are there any method to always lock the jabber to any "headset" and not switch to PC?  Any other tips or tricks?  Thanks!
