Future of Spaces

Can someone let me know if Spaces is still going to be something that will be available once we go with a unified Jabber client? I am trying to determine if it would make sense to role Spaces out to my company but I dont want to get everyone hooked on something only to have it go away in 6-9 months. Any infomation would be helpful.
