Jabber Home window pops up by itself continuously

Hello.  My Cisco Jabber 'Home" window (which shows my contact list) keeps popping up every few minutes while I am typing.  Oftentimes, I am composing an email or writing notes and all of a sudden the Jabber window will open and a few words of my email or notes will enter into the Search bar before I realize it opened itself up.  This has been happening for the last few weeks on a daily basis, multiple times per day.  As far as I can see, there is no rhyme or reason as to why.  No events (like a new chat or incoming call) are triggering it; it just randomly opens up and takes the focus from whatever application I am working in.  This is extremely annoying!!!!!!!  Please help.

I have Jabber set-up to stay open in the tray so that I can receive chats and phone calls (we use the softphones), but I don't want that "home" window to EVER open by itself.  I am very close to simply killing the application and using my mobile phone for calls (and having all softphone calls go straight to voicemail) rather than the softphone because my productivity the rest of the day is more important.

I think I may have finally figured this out.  I have a Plantronics headset with the Plantronics Spokes software and Jabber plug-in.  The great thing about Plantronics headsets is that they can also be used as USB headphones, so you can pipe normal audio through them even if you aren't using them on a call.

I think what may be happening is that every time there is a windows alert that would normally play an alert sound, the audio is probably being routed through the Plantronics driver and maybe Jabber isn't smart enough to distinguish that it is an alert sound rather than a call.  Therefore it opens up the Jabber home window.

There are two considerations which may refute this hypothesis though:

1) Even if I mute Windows audio completely, the problem still happens (Jabber home window opens "randomly").  Maybe the Windows alert handler is still passing something on that Jabber picks up on?

2) The Plantronics headset is smart enough to know when it is in my ear or not.  Even if I have the Plantronics headset out on the desk or in it's charger, the issue still happens.

3) If the headset is out of my ear and Windows audio is muted, the issue still occurs.

Does anyone else with this problem have a Plantronics headset? Any ideas on how to better test this theory?
