Hi,
After your recent upgrade there was a new feature in the experimental section called EcReferenceDelay . This has greatly helped us with some of the commercial screens that client want to use with the C20.
However, can this option have a on/off toggle? As the default is 0 when upgraded to 4.2 it creates echo in professional screens such as NEC and Pioneer.
This would hopefully decrease the ammount of maintenance calls and RMA's for both the seller and yourself.

Are you saying there was no echo with the professional screens prior to upgrading to TC4.2 on the C20s? If so then that sounds more like a bug as the value EcReferenceDelay defaults to 0 and should be the equivalent of your suggested on/off toggle set to "off".
Professional screens should have a low enough delay that EcReferenceDelay should be set to 0. What screens are you using?

Yes, there are no issues before upgrading. We have tested on a NEC V651.
Would having the EcReferenceDelay at 0 mean that no delay is inplace which would result in reverb? Even the professional screens will have a few ms of delay, at the very least the system would have a typical value of 7-8ms delay ( mic at 3m distance ).
It's a great feature for clients looking for a cheaper audio visual environment including a video conference kit and we appreciate that is has been included in the recent software. An on/off feature for this would be ideal.

Setting EcReferenceDelay at 0 will allow the echo control to work in the span 0-80ms, so there is/should be adaptation upwards. However, setting the EcReferenceDelay higher than the actual audio delay on the screen will not work as the Echo Control won´t adapt to lower values than the EcReferenceDelay. Thus, conservative values should be set to allow for the automatic adaptation.
This value is, as you obviously know, for fine-tuning EC with screens with delayed audio output and EcReferenceDelay set to 0 should be OK for professional screens.
Could you for the sake of it try the following and see if that fixes the problems you are experiencing:
Set the EcReferenceDelay to 100 and then set it back to 0. Any change?

Hi David,
We have done some more testing, we have used a C20 on 4.1 which was fine going through this NEC plasma. We then upgraded the C20 to 4.2, this right away caused some echo.
We then followed your guidance and changed it to 100, which was actually abit better then rebooted. we then changed it to 0 which made echo again, and rebooted. When it booted up again the echo was still apparent.
We played around and you can get the ecreferencedelay to a 'sweet spot' but this will obviously varie depending on the room size and make of screen.
Have you anymore thoughts on what we could try or may it be the case of putting in some sort of on/off toggle?
