Hi there,
is it possible to manufacture a custom control cable for c20 to communicate with the HD preceision 1080p camera?
I am looking to mount the camera 40 ft away from the c20 Codec.
I will extend the HDMI cable using an optical cable (or an extron interface).
I will probably locally power the camera.
I am hoping I can create a 40 ft cable using cat5e but wanted to know the maximum length and at what point would I definately need locally power the camera?
If there is a thread answering this already, please point me to it.
Thanks
Jeevan

Hi Jeevan,
Yes, you can make your own cable. The actual electrical interface used for controlling the C20 camera is RS-232. This can be extended about 20 meters without any repeaters. This will require local power of the camera. I don't have any exact distance for how long you can extend without powering the camera locally, but would assume around 5 meters.
Best regards
