Is there a way (through API or internal menu) do disable notifications to the Far End of the Near End microphone mute status (Privacy)? I have a customer making this request, and I have never heard of such a thing, though it does sound plausible that there could be a way to execute this.

Much thanks! Brian.

Hi Brian,
this is something that we don't support directly as a configuration. Technically I guess it IS possible to do it using the API of the audio mixer to disconnect the signals from the microphones input from the output gate for output gates to the farend (see "xCommand Audio LocalInput xxx"-commands in the administrator guide). Alternatively is to adjust the input gain to the farend to the minimum value instead of muting using "xCommand Audio RemoteOutput UpdateInputGain" and set InputGain to: -54.
Personally I would ask the customer again why this is so important - I have never heard this request before :-)

Cheers,
David

Thanks, David. We do have a DSP infront of the codec, so we could mute the audio there, just as easily. I typically like to use both the DSP and codec for privacy functions, as we use the real-time feedback of the codec's privacy status to drive other muting functions (such as for a telco interface, etc.). This is useful in a situation where someone uses the handheld remote to mute the mics; everyhting stays in-sync.

Just the same, David, I've never heard this request before. I suppose they want speak kindly of those on the far-end without the far-end knowing they're doing so.
