I've got the demo 1.3 module loaded into my processor, but having problems creating a side by side layout where half is the far end and the other have is the near end camera, based on the Demo menu what sequence should I follow?

ALso i'm not able to create any of the layouts provided on the module consistently, it may work once or twice but not every time.

I loaded the demo program straight to my processor and touchpanel with nothing else on the program.

Thanks,

P.S.  I know this is the wrong category for this threat, however since my previous post has gone unasnwered for over 2 months, maybe I'll get a better chance if I post it on multiple locations.....

I have the same problem, i know what the problem is but am unsure how to fix it.

Here is the problem with the farend source is that the "VideoSourceId:" is a dynamic value for "SourceType: remoteMain" so what happens is if you know the remotemain videosourceid than you can use the module "Tandberg C90 + C60 Video Layout commands" with this correct videosourceid and sourcetype remote main.

The problem is that the remotemain videosourceid get incremented for ever call.  If you track this value, and use it as the videosourceid when you use remotemain as your sourcetype.  but this is a lot of work just to get the remote video in a window.

Can some one from Tandberg comment on this issue, the ideal would to use the same system as localmain and the videosourceid would track to the remote input of the remote codec that is the farends main video feed.  In this way if i called sourcetype: remotemain videosourceid: 2 it would mean the second video input of the farend codec.

just my 2cents

Timothy,

yes, there is a definately lot more easy way of getting the main video source from a remote site than is demonstrated in the demos in the Crestron module. Reason for this is that I have just been made aware of the possibility myself - stupid me 🙂

Rather than setting the VideoSourceType in a frame to RemoteMain you can set it to OtherMain. Then you don't have to worry about the VideoSourceId as all (just set it to 1).

Behind the OtherMain VideoSourceType there is quite a lot of logic:
- Create a layout
- Add one or more frames with OtherMain set as VideoSourceType
- Assign this layout to a local output
- Assign this layout to all remote calls (If you ommit callId in xCommand Video Layout AssignCall it will take all calls)
The codec will itself determine which main video feeds to display in the OtherMain frames individually for each local output and remote calls ensuring that all sites get the otherones main feed and not its own feed. Clever? 🙂

Hope this helps.

David A Bruun-Lie,

Thank you so much,  the otherMain VideoSourceType is producing the correct results, as i am trying to have a 4/5 window localoutput with content from LocalPC LocalCam1 LocalCam2 and Remotesite.

Our solution is working great.

With the way yuo have described the othermain VideoSourceType it looks like this will not show the Farend there own mainsource back to themselfs, correct?  If i did want to have the above layout with localsources and the remotemain send back to the farend what is the best method of doing this?  I have not got to this problem yet but i see it come later this week.

Again thanks for your great response, this has saved me lots of time trying to track the inputID of the remoteMain video.

Hi Tim,
glad it worked out for you 🙂

Generally we don't recommend using a video stream for remote sites to see themselves from a usability concern. Most users find it annoying having to see themselves - especially witht the latency that gets introduced having to send their own image back and forth. If they want to see themselves they can use self view.

This is one of the great strengths of the C-series - that is has enough horse power to do individual compositing of images to all remote sites - that allows for all sites to get a continuous presence layout of everyone else except oneself.

But sometimes certain scenarios do require selfview in mainstream anyway - so we added an easy way of doing that too 🙂

Using ownMain as the VideoSourceType for a frame will populate the frame with that sites own main video!

You can read all about this and many other exciting things about the API with examples etc. in our brand new online API howto doc: http://developer.tandberg.com/web/guest/howtos/cseries-api/

Enjoy

Thanks again,

Just saw the brand new online API howto doc: http://developer.tandberg.com/web/guest/howtos/cseries-api/

Is there any chance that this great info can be posted as a PDF even if it is a basic version of the online doc?

Again the info in the new online doc is great i was looking for lots of the definitions that are presented in this Doc.

Again Thanks again and keep up the great work on the API and Docs.  How far out are the updated  TANDBERG Codec C90 System Integrator Guide (TC3.0) docs?

I guess we expected this request to come... and we will look into this.

This documentation is actually already available.
With TC3.0, we did some restructuring of our documentation. What used to be the "System Integrator Guide" is now split up into the [url=http://www.tandberg.com/support/dl.php?id=1155&dir=Application_Programmer_Interfaces&fn=TANDBERG%20Codec%20C90%20API%20Guide%20(TC30).pdf]API Guide and the [url=http://www.tandberg.com/support/dl.php?id=1153&dir=User_Manuals&fn=TANDBERG%20Codec%20C90%20Physical%20Interface%20Guide%20(TC30).pdf]Physical Interface Guide. (We have a small backlog on updating this site, but all documentation is also available through www.tandberg.com at the documentation download page.)

And BTW, thank you for nice feedback to the team

Ariel.
