Cisco Unified Presence 6.0: Quick Install
Purpose: Quick Install Notes for Cisco Unified Presence Server (required for Cisco Unified Personal Communicator clients - a multi-platform SoftPhone)

Install Software
- Find DVD. Keep hands on that original.
- Pre-install:
- Complete Parameter Sheet in advance
- Setup DNS in Advance
- Configure CUP Server on CallManager

Configure CallManager for Cisco Unified Presence (CUP)

Configure Service Parameters
Configure Service Parameter to accept Presence Group subscriptions.
- System > Service Parameters.
- Chose: Publisher & Service = Cisco CallManager
- Find: Clusterwide Parameters (System - Presence) section.
- Set: Default Inter-Presence Group Subscription = Allow Subscription
Save
Configure Application
Configure an Application Server by hostname.
System > Application Server > New > Enter Hostname
Configure Phone Messenger Service
- Create PhoneMessenger Service Account.
- User Mgmt > Application User > New.
- UserID = PhoneMessenger
- Note: This account will also be configured on the CUP server.
- Select (controlled) Devices that will subscribe to the IP Phone Messenger Service
- Configure Phone Service
- Service URL = http://<cup_server_ip_address>:8081/ippm/default?name=#DEVICENAME#<code>
- Subscribe any phones that will be used as presence endpoints to the IPPM service.
- License the IPPM client for Presence
Configure SIP Trunk to CUP
Confirm SIP Trunk Profile settings
System > Security Profile > SIP Trunk Security Profile > Find "Non-Secure SIP Trunk Profile

Configure AXL Support (optional)
- Add new Application User such as axl-cups01
- Add Application User to new User Group such as "axl_access"
- Assign role to User Group (related links)
Configure CUP
Obtain and Upload License
Configure IP Phone Messenger Service
Presence information is presented to IP phones via HTTP/XML. The IP Phone Messenger Service (IPPM) is used to facilitate this communication. In order to post HTTP popups to the Phone for Instant Messaging, this special application user must be provisioned both on the CUP server as well as in CallManager.
- Login to the CUP administraton page.
- Application -> IP Phone Messenger -> Setting
Configure the application password to be the same as the PhoneMessenger User configured on CCM.
Configure the Presence Gateway
The presence server uses the presence gateways to to receive presence information.
- Login to the CUP Admin Page
- Go to Cisco Unified Presence -> Presence Engine -> Presence Gateways
- Add a presence gateway of type CUCM.
Configure Presence Settings
The presence settings are used to configure global parameters that affect all presence services and applications.
Configure for CUP Clients
The following configurations on the CUP server are required to support CUP clients. The CUP provides services to these clients, which includes:
- Registrar service
- Storage of published state
- Storage of the CUPC configuration file
- Authentication of the client
- Contact list subscriptions
- Registrar service
Configure General Settings
CUP/ccmadmin > Application > Unified Personal Communicator -> Settings
Parameters
TFTP Server: Directory Server Type:
- Set the CTI Gateway Profile to Default_cti-tcp_profile_synced_000
- Go to Application > CTI Gateway > Settings
- Set Application Status to On
- Configure Application User/Password, CCM IP Address.
