when I create a simple app in cvp studio 4 and then deploy and run the deployApp.bat script, I get an error message
"the app has been deployed however errors were encountered attempting to initialize loggers. the affected loggers have not been initialized and will not function. see the app error log or global error log for descriptions.
The app error log says
"There was a problem instantiating the logger class com.cisco.cvp.vxml.datafeed.DataFeedLogger."
--I didn't change anything in Studio Project Properties. I see that by default the General Settings page with the Loggers: window includes the CVPDatafeedLog.
So, my question is, why am I seeing these error messages? Is it because I didn't configure a Reporting Server or something?
What do you suggest so students don't get these errors every time the deploy or update an app?
Thanks!
Janine

Hi Janine,
It seems that VXML Server is having difficulties locating the DataFeedLogger class. It's interesting that you don't see this error for other loggers. Could you please confirm that you're deploying to CVP VXML Server 4.0(x)? Also, is it a fresh install from CD, or some sort of custom/manual install?

Vance

It's a fresh install from CD (brand new from Cisco a couple days ago), but I didn't install the reporting tools or use an operations console.
there are no other complaints from other loggers.

I can try to reinstall the software. But, how will I reactivate it? can I just save the files in the License folders before I uninstall and then replace them after I reinstall? Does that work?

Hi Janine,
Yes, you could try to reinstall, in case the Datafeed Logger is installed by one of those optional components you didn't install last time. In regards to licensing, it depends on what type of license you have.
If you were given an installation key and you manually activated via the /CVP/Licensing URL, then as long as its the same machine and you install in the same place, you can just activate next time with the same installation key (if its the same system ID, you can reactivate all you want).
If you got your license from the main Cisco licensing website (www.cisco.com/go/license) with a PAK code, then you should reapply the license via the Ops Console. However, it doesn't sound to me like that's the route you went.
You shouldn't have to copy physical license files out of the license directory for this.

Vance

My license is NFR and I purchased it from Cisco. I got a PAK which I had to enter into the cisco go licensing site. But then I actually 'activate' it manually by going to the audium site (because I couldn't get my VMWare to go online properly).
So, I just want to make sure that I don't end up with a license that's not usable - if I uninstall and then reinstall, into the same location, then I should be all set, because the original license files will still be in the correct location and should still work. Right?
So, is it the case, that even you guys don't know which software installs that DataFeed logger class? Or do you know which directory/jar file I should find it in?
Thanks, Janine
