Core Issue

When a voice mail is received, Cisco Unity sends a copy of the voice mail to Microsoft Outlook. The issue is that the codec that Cisco Unity uses in order to format the .wav file does not work with Microsoft Windows Media Player 10 Mobile.

Only the GSM 6.10 codec is supported.

Resolution

In order to resolve this issue, complete the instructions detailed in Changing the Cisco Unity Codecs.

Unfortunately there is no support for MP3 encoding for Cisco Unity at this time, so this is not an option for us to work on at this time. But, apparently the GSM 6.10 codec is supported. Verify with the phone vendor that they support GSM 6.10 codec on the phone.

Additional Information

Windows Media Player 10 Mobile supports high-quality digital media files and can require a large amount of storage space. In order to minimize file size, digital media files are often compressed with software called a codec, which is short for compressor/decompressor. In order to play the file, it must be decompressed with the same codec that compressed the file.

By default, Windows Media Player 10 Mobile can play files that have been compressed by any of these audio and video codecs. In some cases, the device manufacturer or mobile operator configures the player to support other codecs. In order to determine which codecs a file uses, review its file properties in Menu >

Properties.
