Core Issue

In a centralized Cisco Unity Server with multiple locations, when a caller on the remote site wants to go to the operator after a voice message is left for a subscriber with the use of the 0 button, the call goes to the incorrect destination which is the operator at the main site instead of to the local operator

This occures in a network where Cisco Unity is located in a centralized location and there are subscribers at various other remote sites. When you call up an extension of the remote site and leave the message for a subscriber, if you want to talk to an operator at that remote site, you choose 0 but this sends the call to the operator at the main site. Same way all the calls from all the sites comes to the operator at the main site.

It can possibly be inconvenient for the operator at the main site.

Resolution

In order to resolve this issue, complete these steps:

  1. Create a call handler calloperator.
  2. Record the dial 0 to operator in the caller input.
  3. Ignore all the keys except 0.
  4. Choose Callhandler. Choose Select > Select Operator.
  5. From the dropdown menu, choose attempt transfer for and choose OK.
  6. Choose operator.
  7. Change the call transfer link under transfer incoming calls to Yes. Ring a subscriber at this extension and specify a local site operator extension there.
Refer to Call Transfers for more information on Call Transfers issues.
