If you receive a Java Null Pointer Exception alert while creating or viewing a post through the Web interface, check to see if the Mongo DB is running. This
can happen when there is an unclean stop of MongoDB.
Below is an example of the alerts received:
“Restricted
The resource is not available.
Contact the author of this post for more information.”
“Sorry, a network error has
occurred. Please refresh your browser or go to another page to continue.”
To find out if the Mongo DB is runinng run the following from CLI:
For JSON Store: mongo --port 27000
You should then see a prompt that says "PRIMARY>".
For Analytics Store: mongo --port 27001
You should then see a prompt that says "PRIMARY>".
If you do not see "PRIMARY>" and get an error or exception, you should restart the Mongo DB.
To properly restart Mongo DB do the following:
1) service mongod-analyticsstore stop
2) service mongod-jsonstore stop
3) In /var/run/mongod (at least on a real WebEx Social install), there will be two files: mongod-analyticsstore.pid and mongod-jsonstore.pid. Delete these two files.
4) service mongod-analyticsstore start
5) service mongod-jsonstore start
