Created by: Pietro Angelo Corrao on 18-09-2013 10:40:27 AM Hi Everybody,
In my IVR flow i have to manage a usr/pwd authentication process letting the user types the userId(Min Digits = 8, Max Digits = 😎 and the password(Min Digits = 8 , Max digits = 20) the problem is that when the user calls and types the userId the "Max Digits" configuration is ignored, the application acquire a string of digits with length equals to the "Max Digits" lenght string, the nomatch event is not thrown and the application concatenate the exceeded charactes to the next input digits...The Password. The documentation say:
If fewer digits are entered,a nomatch event will be thrown. A string of digits with length greater than the maximum length cannot be entered
Does it mean that the behaviour we are experiencing is the right one? Is it impossible to throw a nomatch event if the user exceed the Max Digits? Is it Normal that the exceeded characters are considered like the start of the next input?
Thanks,
Pietro

Whether it's right or not, doesn't matter. Set your Max Digits to 99 and make the caller enter the # key to end their input. Set the VoiceXML Property Name: interdigittimeout to Value: 5s (5 seconds) You can then create your own element to calculate the string length. If it's not 8, the tell the caller to re-enter and loop back. There's an element on the Developer Network SBString that you can use to calculate the string length. Janine
