Hi,

We have an urgent need to use the "maxspeechtimeout" VXML property with the IOS gateway (running Nuance 9). Here are my questions:

1) Is this property supported by the browser?
According to Cisco VXML Programmer's Guide (15.0(1)M), the property is not supported. Please confirm!!

2) If not, is there any way to work around this limitation? Is there a cisco-specific property (or extension) that we can use to achieve the same?

3) When will the IOS gateway add support for this standard VXML property?

Also, we have following questions re: a related property named "completetimeout":

1) Is this property supported by the browser?
According to Cisco VXML Programmer's Guide (15.0(1)M), the property is not supported. Please confirm!!

2) If not, is there any way to work around this limitation?
Is there a cisco-specific property (or extension) that we can use to
achieve the same?

3) When will the IOS gateway add support for the "completetimeout" property?

Your timely response is appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Rachel

1. maxspeechtimeout

Thanks for confirming that this property is not supported by the browser!

Now, is there a way to work around this limitation? Can we pass an alternative parameter in the VXML code, say a Cisco-specific extention, to essentially achieve the same functionality?

2. Completetimeout

Page 1-57 of the above mentioned document says the following:

"Note  The behavior of the completetimeout property is not supported. However, the value of the completetimeout property is parsed. The
larger of the completetimeout and incompletetimeout values is used as the value of incompletetimeout."

Our tests also show that changing the 'completetimeout' value does not take any effect on the complete timeout behavior.  So just wanted to confirm with your team.

Thanks,
Rachel

1.     Maxspeechtimeout:

Your can use external grammar which may specify maxspeechtimeout. Don¿t have CISCO extension for this feature.

2.     Completetimeout:

You are right,  It should behave as the document.

Thanks !

Thanks for the response! One more question re: "maxspeechtimeout":

We managed to get it to work, by passing "maxspeechtimeout" in a <meta> tag within an external grammar, as follows:

<meta name="maxspeechtimeout" content="5000"/>

However, per our testing, whenever the caller gets chatty and the maxspeechtimeout is reached, the gateway would throw a noresource error.

Is this expected, OR a gateway known issue? In this situation, whenever "maxspeechtimeout" is reached, shouldn't the gateway/recognizer just cut off the caller input and respond with a result based on what has been collected so far, WITHOUT throwing any VXML error?

Thanks in advance,
Rachel

Two questions before we go ahead and test the fix against 15.1(1)T:

1) We are running CVP 4.1.1. Is IOS Version 15.1(1)T supported by CVP 4.1.1?
2) What is the lowest version and exact image name of VXML browser that included the fix you noted above? 15.1(1)T seems to be many versions above 12.4(15)T7 (- what we are currently running).

Thanks,
Rachel

1. I would think so but you can post question on CVP forum to confirm that.
2. Looks like you haven't upgrade IOS for a while :-) Fix is in 15.1(1)T, that's the lowest you can get.

Thanks,

Yawming

We are unable to find any 15.x image available for download. All the base versions available for download from cisco on the as5350 seem to start at 12.4x.

Is there a cisco bug id for this fix you can share w/ us? (Email me the info at: rachel_yang@uhc.com if you prefer.) With a bug ID, we can find out exactly what IOS we need to fix the issue.

For the CVP 4.1.1 compatibility question, I have posted an inquiry on the CVP forum awaiting their confirmation.

Thanks,
Rachel

Thanks a lot for emailing the bug ID! Will take a look at that shortly.

One more question:

For some reason, the latest image we could find on the CCO download site is c5350-is-mz.124-15.T13.bin. Can you show us where/how we can get to download 15.x images for as5350?

Thanks,
Rachel

Hi Yawming,

Thanks for your help so far!

We just found out that only the latest CVP release (CVP 8.01), but not any release prior, is certified with the following 15.x GW versions:

15.0(1)M1.2
15.1(1)T1 or later T releases

Now, to test it out, we went to this download site: http://tools.cisco.com/support/downloads/pub/Redirect.x?mdfid=268438303, but was unable to find a 15.1(1)T1 release for the AS5350 series. The closest release we could find on the download site was 15.1.1T(ED).

Can you point us to where exactly the 15.1(1)T1 image was released and posted for download? While 15.1.1T(ED) could be very close, it is best we download and test out the official release (i.e. 15.1(1)T1), so we can minimize any unnecessary risks.

Regards,
Rachel

Can someone please reply to my last post ASAP? We need the info urgently so we can get it downloaded and tested out for our solution.

In particular, here's the question we need an answer for:

Where is the official release of IOS 15.1(1)T1 image for AS5350 posted for download?

Thanks,
Rachel

Hi Rachel,

The official release of IOS 15.1(1)T1 image has been scheduled for the second week of July. Meanwhile you can download the ED image and make use of it for your testing. We shall keep you posted in case of any change in the schedule.

Thanks,
Anusha
