Hi there,
I have been passed a question regarding the licensing of Oracle & Redhat!

"The main problem we
have is with licensing of Oracle and Red Hat.  It appears these are now
included in version 2.5 but we have downloaded all the files from the File
Exchange but the licenses / subscriptions are not included.  We are
unclear how we should progress this and would appreciate any assistance you can
provide"

Can anyone assist please as this has put a deployment on hold?
Thanks,
Alan

Alan,

If I understand the ask, it's "how do I license RedHat and Oracle for a WebEx Social deployment?"

If so, here's the answer:
1) While we test against RedHat, we support any OS that Oracle supports, which includes CentOS - the community-maintained (read: free) version of RedHat. In fact, the embedded Oracle install for 2.5(2) runs on the same customized CentOS that all of the WebEx Social roles run on.

So, if they don't have a site/volume license for RedHat, I would suggest CentOS, which they can get here:
http://www.centos.org/modules/tinycontent/index.php?id=30

I highly recommend downloaded the x64 (64-bit) DVD ISO instead of the 8 CDs. Makes for a much simpler install.

2) There is no run-time license enforcement in Oracle 11g. So, they can just register for an Oracle account - if they don't have one already - download from here, and install:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html?ssSourceSiteId=ocomen

Make sure they get 11.2.0.2, as there is a known issue with CEPM and versions prior to that.

From a licensing standpoint, they will be covered under our blanket agreement with Oracle.

I've shot you a separate email with an Oracle Install Doc created by one of our DBAs, which you can Post to wherever you keep the docs for the Partners. It is quite good and takes you through all the steps, post OS-install onwards.

You can also give them this for Pre-Installation Step #2. It will save them alot of typing:
yum install binutils compat-libstdc++ elfutils-libelf elfutils-libelf-devel gcc gcc-c++ glibc glibc-common glibc-devel glibc-headers ksh libaio libaio-devel libgcc libstdc++ libstdc++-devel make numactl-devel pdksh unixODBC unixODBC-devel sysstat

Let me know if that doesn't address the ask.

Cheers,
Chris
