Created by: JUNG DRINKWATER on 17-11-2009 02:16:34 PM All of sudden I am getting empty responses when I issue any AXL request from the server. The following is one of the example. Am I having problem with AXL service problem in the server? If it is, is there a way to restart the service without rebooting the server? Can someone help me why I am getting no data from the server? Thanks, Jung

Are similar empty responses happening for other requests? All other requests? The AXL logs would be the first place to look. You can attach here for a quick check, but I would recommend opening a case with Cisco Developer Services for a formal investigation.
Subject: RE: Problem getting response with data from the 4.1.3sr7 server Replied by: David Staudt on 18-11-2009 11:10:29 PM It is possible to restart the AXL service from the UCM serviceability admin pages (Tools/Control Center - Feature Services.) It is also possible to restart the AXL service via the Servcieability SOAP API (ControlCenterServicesPort) Depending on the problem, though a Tomcat service restart could be needed to clear the problem (if it can be cleared), which can't be done via either mechanism (though it can be done via the UCM CLI.)

I am openint the case with TAC also. I am having call with one of our customer to look at this problem. It's a production server and it is windows OS. Can I just restart the Cisco Tomcat Service using Control panel? I am familiar with UCM CLI for linux but not Windows. Thanks, Jung

You are correct, you should be able to restart IIS (which is hosting AXL on 4.3) via the Windows services controls. Do you know if the customer has possibly implemented multi-level authorization (MLA?) I am aware that there are some problems with AXL and MLA on 4.x, with the workaround being to not use a MLA credential set for AXL, rather use the windows admin credentials.

Subject: RE: Problem getting response with data from the 4.1.3sr7 server Replied by: David Oldfather on 19-12-2013 05:36:43 PM We have created an AXL user on our CUCM v6.1.2 so we can use SolarWinds to gather CDR data for us. We need to create a similar AXL user on our CUCM running v4.3 (but we can't find any documentation or anyone at Cisco who knows how). Please let us know the way to create the AXL user which can be accessed in order to extract CDR. We currently have 8 different clusters and need a good way to get accurate data in a central location.
