Core Issue
Subscriber record views may fail to display when the Unity System Administration (SA) is accessed through an IP address.
When you attempt to view a subscriber record, you receive a dialbox with an Unable to resolve failover partner name to FQDN message if the Unity system administator is accessed through and IP address (like http://10.0.0.1/saweb). This may happen if the Unity SA is accessed in a Domain Name System (DNS) format (like http://servername.domainname.com/saweb).
After entering the SA as described, go to the Subscriber page. Select the Find button. Enter a search criteria. When presented with a list of subscribers, select one. A dialog box with an Unable to resolve failover partner name to FQDN message appears.
This can occur when you access Unity from the same domain as Unity or a different one. It also occurs when you access Unity from the Unity console itself. This problem is observed only with Unity 4.0.
Resolution
For any client that needs to access Unity though an IP address, place an entry in the host's file that has the host name (without any periods) mapped to an IP address.
If this workaround does not work, upgrade to Unity version 4.0(3)SR1 or later.
