I am getting an authentication error when connecting to our SharePoint 2007 external document repository. I've installed the certificate.  It is a public wildcard certificate. I've configured the host and protocal on the Director node. Testing the connection does not work unless i set the hostname to include a sharepoint site.
Here is the error when configuring on the Admin Control Panel Content Repositories page.
Cannot connect to the repository. Login credentials are invalid or you do not have access permission.

FROM THE USER GUI: I configure the external repository portlet to the the configured repository and the URL forms correctly when setup for a particular document repository URL / path. When refreshing the portlet in my MY VIEW page, I get the following error. Cannot connect to the repository. Login credentials are invalid or you do not have access permission. has anyone else seen this?  Any help will be appreciated. Thanks! Rod

Hi Rod,

Can you please check whether the accounts have got the read/write access from the SharePoint side? Without the read/write access, I doubt if one can access the SharePoint location.

BTW, you are using WxS 3.0, right?

Regards,
Ratnadeep.

Hello Ratnadeep,
I am using WxS 3.0 ...194, I do have full permissions at the site and top levels.  A little more detail... we are using *.presidio.com (wildcard) certificates on our sharepoint server.  It is behind a load balancer where our certs are loaded.  We also bind the certs directly on each sharepoint web node.  There is odd behavior.  I can test (in the director node GUI) my external repository configuration (successfully) only if we enter the host name and include a site name in the URL.  If we use only the host name in our configuration, the test button fails.

Hi Rod,

Can you please let me know the following: -
1) What is the authentication mode you are using for the WxS and SharePoint?
2) Is the SharePoint site SSL enabled?
3) Is it possible to provide us the DEBUG level "Document Control System Interface" logs?

Regards,
Ratnadeep.

I tested in my lab and got it working, the auth settings were incorrect on the sharepoint side as you suggested. however have some questions.  What are the auth settings that the External Repository needs on the sharepoint side?  I assume basic or kerberos at the website level.  What settings are required on the WxS side when selecting kerberos?  Also when using SSL, can the certificate be a wildcard (*) cert? Can it be a private cert or does it need to be a public certificate like we do with Show and Share integration?
Thanks
Rod
