Created by: Bob Fitzgerald on 13-07-2012 02:22:15 PM Hello! For support concerning suspected bugs with TC Console, would all requests be through this forum or would they go through TAC? Does TAC provide any support for TC Console? For instance, our customer would like to apply 2 custom local layout families to their C90s, one that provides "full screen far end" and one that provides "full screen Presentation", regardless of whether or not a Presentation is active. The primary purpose is to be able to switch between a "full screen view of the far end" and a "full screen view of the Presentation" on a single screen system while the Presntation is active. They also want to be able to switch between the two custom local layout families using either Crestron control or the IR remote. They have successfully loaded the two custom layout families onto the C90. Actually, they are trying to prove it works on a C60 first, as they don't have a spare C90 for testing. The problem they are running into is, after a Presentaiton has started and they are in the "full screen Presentation" family, when they switch to the "full screen far end" family the codec ends the Presentation. An additional question I have is - do the codecs support multiple simultaneous custom layout families? TC Console 3.3 C60 running TC4.2 (I think) Thanks!
Subject: RE: TC Console Support Replied by: David Bruun-Lie on 17-07-2012 07:09:59 AM Hi Bob, you will get more support on TC Console here than thought TAC - you're communicating directly with the people who write the application here
I have tested the scenarios you are trying to achieve here with same sw and things are working as intended here. Here is what I did:
1) Downgraded my C90 to TC4.2 2) Opened TC Console and created two new layouts: "Farend Full" and "Presentation Full". Both copied from the built in "Full Screen" family. 3) Changed the layouts for a call with one remote site. "Farend Full" => Changed default presentation layout to show fullscreen "ActiveSpeaker" and not "Presentation" 4) Changed the layouts for a call with one remote site. "Presentation Full" => Changed default layout without presentation to show fullscreen "Presentation" and not "ActiveSpeaker" 5) When to "Setup Layouts" and set "Farend Full" and "Presentation Full" to be visible in menu for a point2point call with 1 participant and both with and without presentation. Set "Presentation Full" to be default when sending presentation and "Farend Full" if not. 6) Selected Synchronize Changes to apply to codec 7) Rebooted coded 8) Set up a single call 9) Started Presentation on local 10) Used remote control to switch back and forth between the two families. => Worked as intended. Did not stop presentation 11) Started Presentation on remote 12) Used remote control to switch back and forth between the two families. => Worked as intended. Did not stop presentation
What do you mean by "ends the Presentation"? Is it that it takes down the presentation channel/h239 or is it just that the presentation is not visible? What happens if they switch back to "full screen Presentation" family again?
Not quite sure what you mean by "do the codecs support multiple simultaneous custom layout families?" You can have limitless numbers of custom layout families on the codec, however only one active at the time of course...
In TC4.2 I do see that if you do not have an input source connected to the presentation source and start presentation - regardless of which layout familiy is active, a black notification covering 99% of the screen saying "No Signal" will be displayed above the video.
Cheers, David
Subject: RE: TC Console Support Replied by: Bob Fitzgerald on 01-08-2012 11:52:38 AM Hi David,
Thanks for the answer. According to the folks who were trying this, that was not their experience. When the Presentation was active, and they switched from "Full Screen Presentation" to "Full Screen Participant", the H.239 channel would close. They did have a Presentation source connected.
My question about the multiple layout families came from how I was misreading the wording in the API Guide.
Thank you for your step-by-step. I will pass this on to the customer. Maybe we missed something.
