Hi,
We are working on moving or call centers from UCCX to UCCE, and as part of that we need to figure out how to handle all the user variables we use in our X environment.

Since there is no limit in X as to the amount of variables you can have for a call, we had quite a few. We used these for reporting as well as displaying info to the agent in CAD. Now we are running into issue trying to get the same functionality for all our call centers that they are used to.
Most of the variables are used to pop info to the agent in CAD, so using CVP's reporting isn't really an option, we need to get the information into ECC variables.
However, we are also using Courtesy Call Back, which takes up a decent amount of variable space. Add to that the required variables for CVP, and after adding just three ecc variables to our configuration, we have hit the 2500 byte limit for ecc variables.

My questions are:
1: Do user variables count against the ECC variable space? We have a few of those configured but not many, so if they do we could find ways to get rid of them so we have more space for ecc variables.
2: What is the actual available space? I learned in class it was 2000 bytes, but the warning message in the configuration manager says 2500 bytes

3: How have you dealt with this issue in your call centers? Do most of you just use the Peripheral Variables for screenpops to the agent?

I can't answer your third question, but I can answer your first two about the space used by ECC variables.

1. User variables do not count against ECC variable space.

2. There are two limits for ECC variable space; one in CTI Server and one for the system as a whole. You can't save an ECC variable if you exceed the 2000 byte limit for the system, but you will get a warning if you attempt to exceed the 2500 byte limit for CTI Server. The size of each ECC variable can be calculated as follows:

Size in system:
For a scalar ECC variable: 5 + Maximum length
For an array ECC variable: 5 + (1 + Maximum length) * Maximum array size
The sum of the sizes for all enabled ECC variables cannot exceed 2000 bytes.

Size in CTI Server:
For a scalar ECC variable: Length of name + Maximum length + 4
For an array ECC variable: (Length of name + Maximum length + 5) * Maximum array size
The sum of the sizes for all enabled ECC variables should not exceed 2500 bytes.
