Core Issue

Even after you run the Uninstall utility on Cisco Unity, the old server still appears in the Server Chooser option in the Web Admin GUI and so forth.

Resolution

The old server information can still remain on Active Directory (AD) and on the Cisco Unity Database.  In order to completely remove the old Cisco Unity server, complete these steps:

  1. Delete the old server from the AD.  In order to do this, go to ADSIEDIT, which is located in the CommServer >TechTools folder.

When you open it, it asks you to log in twice. Eenter a domain
    administrator account.

  2. Once on the ADSIEDIT, open the second Domain NC:

    1. Open the folder which has the domain name.

    2. Open the Cisco Unity folder and then choose Locations

    3. On the right pane, you see several locations.  One of these should be deleted.  In order to make sure which one it is, right-click on each location and choose Properties. Choose a property to view, open the menu and click ciscoEcsbuUMServer.

  3. On the Value(s) field, you are able to see the name of the server. Delete the Location entry that corresponds for the old one.

In order to delete the entry from the Cisco Unity Database, complete these steps:

    1. Open the SQL Server Enterprise Manager and choose Start > Programs > Microsoft SQL Server.

    2. Open the Microsoft SQL Servers.

    3. Open the SQL Server Group.

    4. Open the Local server or the server with which it corresponds.

    5. Open these databases:

      • Cisco Unity Database

      • Tables

    6. Right-click GlobalLocation, open the table, and return all rows.

    7. You see some entries for the Cisco Unity servers.

    8. Choose the row that corresponds for the old server and delete it.

The SQL portion of this helped me solve a long standing problem here.  Great piece of information.  Thank you so much. :)
