Hello All,
I have local instance of WebEx Developer Edition, run using VMWare Player.
However I have the following problem:
When I try to execute REST call using Firefox (packed with WebEx VM image) REST client plugin, I can not execute it because it raises Http Error 500: Internal Server Error.
This is the rest call: GET http://localhost:80/api/quad/rest/communities
Content-Type: application/json
I am using Http Basic Authentication with username = test@your_company.com and password=quad
I have tried several other usernames/passwords but all I got is either Http Error 500 or User Account Error (Http 201).
Can anyone help with this issue ?

Daniel -

By default, the Webex Social APIs use OAuth authentication.  You can enable Basic Authentication by following the instructions on this page: http://developer.cisco.com/web/webexsocial-developer/testing-the-apis.

Have you enabled Basic Auth for the APIs in this way?

Also, for the default installation of the VM, the username should be username = test@your_company.com and password=cisco.

Please let me know if you need anything else -

Hi Amanda,
Yes, my Basic Authentication is enabled. I restarted the quad as described in the tutorial: sudo ./quad restart
It asked me for password for quad user which appeared to be "quad".

Daniel -

The password for the system user is:

username: quad
password: quad

You are correct, this is the password to use when restarting the system.

To Authenticate the APIs, you need to use the WebEx Social portal user credentials.

The password for the WebEx Social portal user that is setup by default in the VM is

username: test@your_company.com
password: cisco

To authenticate the API calls in the REST Client:

select Basic Authentication
enter: Username:test@your_company.com
enter: Password:cisco

Please try that and let me know if you still have issues.

thanks -
