Problem
After successfully installing the CUE Script Editor on a PC, when the program is launched a box flashes up on the screen briefly and then goes away immediately.
Solution
There are a number of potential issues that can cause this. Some of the more common ones are listed below:
- For the Microsoft Vista (which isn't officially supported) Operating System, try the following to run in XP-compatible mode:
- right click on the CUE editor icon
- Select the Properties option - a new window opens up
- Select the Compatibility Tab
- Check box 'Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows XP
- Check the box 'Run as Administrator
- The CUE Script Editor relies on the Microsoft JVM. It installs this during the install, but there may be issues if another Java version, such as Sun's Java, for example, is already installed. A possible solution is to uninstall the other JVM's and then run the CUE Script Editor installation again. If only MSJVM is installed, it may be worth re-installing by first uninstalling it using a suitable uninstall tool such as this one and then running the Editor installation to re-install the MSJVM.
- If all else fails, get a trace by running the program with the -debug flag. A console window will appear with additional information which can then be sent to the ask-cue-editor@external.cisco.com alias.
