Status: Needs Info

To better serve Cisco community and improve search experience within the Cisco Community, I recommend enhancing the search functionality by implementing contextual keyword recognition.

Currently, the search feature in the Community appears to rely on static or exact-match queries. This often leads to less relevant results, especially when users phrase their questions naturally or use different terminology.

A more intelligent search engine that extracts and uses key words from user queries (rather than matching whole sentences or exact phrases) could dramatically improve result relevance. Adding natural language processing or AI-driven keyword parsing would help getting more accurate and helpful content, reducing the need for repeated posts and improving user satisfaction.

Hello Jagan,

Thank you for your feedback and comments. We are always improving and enhancing our search algorithms internally. However, at this point, could you point out some examples and references for which you are referring too. This would give us better understanding of what is contextual search mean?

Currently our search is based on keyword search, sentences search and phrase search. We are also implementing AI summarisation in our search for better relevant relevant results.

Stay tuned for the same.

regards,

Hi Akshay,

What I meant by “contextual search” is the ability of the search engine to understand the full meaning or intent behind a user’s query, rather than relying solely on keywords or exact phrases. Currently, most results seem to be driven by keyword matching, which often misses the broader context of the question.

For example, if I’m searching for PoE specifications for a particular switch model and I enter a query using the switch series, the results are often generic or not directly relevant to that specific model.

Implementing this kind of context-aware capability would greatly improve the user experience by delivering more precise and helpful results—especially when users phrase queries in a more natural or conversational way.
