QSolved - what's that?

Hello everyone,

Did anybody receive an unsolicited email from qsolved.com either stating that his/her account is ready and is waiting for final registration, or that his/her question was not answered in a reasonable time? I don't know much about the QSolved actually but it seems that it is paying people for providing expert answers.

These e-mails started hitting me some time during this year. It seems that the QSolved is actually crawling through the NetPro, selecting people that answer and questions that are unanswered, and somehow it imports all this in their own website. I have a feeling that I even saw parts of my answers here on NetPro processed into their blog articles (which I do not have anything against). The QSolved seems to have extracted my e-mail address from my profile (it's public so it's no secret) and it seems to have added me to their database.

I doubt that NetPro has any relations to this QSolved project. I have to say that I do not want to cause any trouble to the QSolved, they seem to have a good purpose, but still, I find this a little strange - I have never responded to such e-mails and they keep arriving from time to time.

I don't want any legal issue being led against them. I just wanted to ask if I am the only one being "miraculously chosen" by the QSolved

Hi Peter,

I believe you are the chosen one! My address is not public and I don't have this problem. Generally speaking people can receive unsolicited e-mail even when they don't make their addresses public. So, since you made your address public, unsolicited e-mail is to be expected, right? Especially when your posts are so useful!

Edit: If I recall correctly, the user agreement says that we agree that anyone can use the information we post here.

Thanks for the answer. I get the message - if I am such an idiot as to make my e-mail address public then I shall expect everybody throwing rubbish at it, I know, I know

But I am not complaining about receiving spam per se. I am pointing out to a different issue - the qsolved.com seems to run business based on the information accessible on NetPro in a way that does not evoke my trust. Actually, I visited the page http://blog.qsolved.com and guess what it says in its HTML preamble?

Hi Peter,

In your original post you said you just wanted to ask whether you were the chosen one. I believe I have answered the question (please rate helpful posts )! Now I am surprised that you said in your original post that their purpose looks good (first 3 questions free?). Now it seems you changed your mind. I guess the more you look at it the more suspicious it seems. Just teasing you of course.

Yeah, I can see the Cisco Systems claim clearly in the title bar of my browser (http://blog.qsolved.com/). Also, I can see a claim that they have Cisco experts (https://www.qsolved.com/qsolved/loginform.htm?ikey=), which looks misleading to me. Anyway, I don't know how people working with cisco equipment like to call themselves. You know something? I believe on the internet the free stuff tends to win in the end. I mean, if they just copy the site, sooner or later people will know. Cisco however probably has a trademark right or something (legal is not really my thing), and at her sole and absolute discretion can do anything she likes (companies in Greek are feminine ).

Hello Maria,

You're right in absolutely everything you wrote I guess I should not be engaging in speculations about third-party sites lately in the night, I tend to have rather haphazard thinking process around that time of day (or night)

Anyway, after seeing how confused I am myself about this entire issue, I think it would be the best after all to just let it pass unnoticed.

It was late at night for me too and my mind didn't work well either. However, it kind of cleared up a bit when a good opportunity for fun presented itself! So, thank you for this thread regardless of what Lady Cisco is going to do about it!

Hi Peter,

I want to assure you CSC doesn't have any relationship with Qsolved.  As Maria mentioned it's best to hide your email address in your profile.  CSC along with all communities on the web are crawled for email addresses.
