Hi, Not sure if that was the problem was with the Supervisor Engine. You see SSO mode provides stateful redundancy for Layer 2 traffic ONLY. When a SSO failover happens the routing protocols are reset. It may be possible that reset of routing information during the force failover has caused your issue to resolve. Hope that helps. Source Address Or Interface : gigabitethernet0/2 ---- or type in the gig 0/2 interface ip address . . Few things that erupted in my mind... - Lets assume the translation is happening correctly then are you able to ping the outside world from your router if interface gig0/1 or 0/2 is chosen as source? Whats the result of this ---- # ping 8.8.8.8 source gig 0/1 Also, would suggest you to remove these two lines from the config if you are not using these features - # ip source-route # ip forward-protocol nd Negate the above commands if these features aren't used and let us know if there is any difference. Hi Rais, Thanks for your response. The thing is that flex link and stp is interface based. I cannot have flex links on my core switches... but I have to implement it on the access layer. Hi All, My concern is that if we have three switches connected in triangular fashion and flex link feature is used only on one switch then do we see any layer 2 issues? For example if we consider this topology : If all the links above are configured as trunk and all VLANS allowed then I wish to know - - All ports on Switch B and C remain in fowarding state in STP? - If switch B and C ports are in forwarding state in STP then will Switch B and C announce the MAC-ADDRESS table to Switch A over its directly connected interfaces? - I understand that one interface on Switch A will remain in backup state and shall not SEND traffic but if it receives(I hope it can receive) the same MAC Address table on two interfaces(one being fwding in flex link and other being backup) then what would happen? - Will there be MAC-FLAPS or Layer 2 loops observed? Hi, We are noticing a very strange behaviour on Cisco 7606 Router. Cisco 7606 is running with RSP720-3C-GE as a processing engine and we have a line card 76-ES+XC-20G3C connected on the chassis on slot 4. When we connect a SFP(GLC-LH-SM=) and fiber link on port gig 4/9 or gig 4/10 we notice that the CPU utilization goes beyond 70% and the port adjusts itself to 100 Mbps. Strange!! If I manually set the port speed to 1 Gbps on 4/9 CPU still goes high. When CPU shoots high we notice interuppts to be 33-35% while the maximum CPU consuming process is "Online Diag EEM" which consumes 12-15 % of CPU. While the same SFP and the same fiber link if connected on port gig 4/6 the CPU utilization is normal and the port adjusts to 1 Gbps automatically. The CPU stays stable at 25-30 % total utilization with hardly 8-9% of interrupts. The configuration of port gig 4/6, 4/9 and 4/10 is exactly same. There is no traffic on the the link yet but just mere connection on 4/9 or 4/10 causes CPU hike. We have changed the SFPs too and checked but no change in behaviour. But if I connect a GLC-T and terminate a CAT-5 on 4/9 or 4/10 the CPU remains normal but adjusts to 100 Mbps. The image running on the 7600 is 122-33.SRE5. Is there any restriction related to this card or 7600 series? Any help appreciated. Regards, Talha

Hi Kenneth, Then I believe the option available to you is to configure the router with the traditional GRE over IPSEC instead of using tunnel with a crypto profile if thats feasible... apply a crypto map on the physical interface. It would be good option to have a seperate /30 subnet for the tunnel ip addresses and set keepalives on tunnel in a GRE over IPSEC. Regards, Talha

About the same IP address been used at the other end in that case I m not sure if EIGRP will form neighborship over the tunnel. The loopback IP addresses at both ends may be of the same range as the widcart bits for network advertised in EIGRP is /24. May be Kenneth could elaborate on this detail. Regards, Talha

Hi, The fastethernet port of the router at your end has a public ip address and is connected to Internet(possibly). While the tunnel ip addresses are private ip addresses. Hence when you ping the tunnel ip address at the other end the packet won't be routed by your ISP. I don't see any Natting configuration on the fastethernet port of your router. I think if you do Natting on fastethernet port to NAT the tunnel interface ip address this should resolve or either you may configure IPSEC tunnel with ESP option between the WAN interfaces at both ends. How is the tunnel destination reachable.. is it reachable by static route or some other protocol...can you share the configuration related to this? Also when you configured keepalives, did you configure keepalives at both ends of the tunnel? Regards, Talha

Hi, I would suggest you to enter the following command on your router on which you notice high CPU : conf t process cpu threshold type total rising 80 interval 5 falling 20 interval 5 This command would generate a log message whenever your cpu goes above 80 % and will list down three process ids which were consuming maximum CPU during the spike. These process ids can then be co-related to "sh proc cpu" output. Hope that helps, Talha

If you connect workstations on the hub and connect the hub on the switch while configuring switchport as trunk then possibly on the switch you would get the logg message of "cdp native vlan mismatch" and the traffic generated from the workstations on the hub would be switched in vlan 1 on the switch by default. This would happen if you have a dot1q trunk. Connecting a hub on trunk port is not a good practice. Regards, Talha
