Buying Cisco Device and Smartnet contract from different suppliers

Hello.

I want to know if there are any implications if we buy a device from one Cisco Partner and then buy a Smartnet  contract of the same device from another partner. Can this have disadvantages in getting support from the partner that we got the device from?

We need to consolidate our smartnet contracts but we have devices that we got from different suppliers.

Get your Cisco AM/SE involved because it will all depend if each serial number is tied to a service contract or not.  

This is a very messy affair.

@Leo Laohoo  the devices already have smartnet contracts, but what i want to know is that is it necessary to renew the contracts with the Cisco Partner that initially sold us the device? or we can choose a different partner, and are there implications?

No, SmartNet maintenance contracts and switch serial numbers to Service contracts are two different things.  

If the serial numbers, for example, are registered to a Service Contract that is not your company, you have no control over them.  

Get your Cisco AM involved to get the serial numbers and Service Contracts to match to the correct company name.
