We have two new NEXUS 7706 switches to mimic what we have in another datacenter. The other datacenter nexus are running on 8.4(7) and the QSFP-40G-SR transceivers work fine. However, the new equipment is running 8.4(2) and I cant get any of these modules to work.
The connections are between the two 7706s and also between a pair of NEXUS 9504s. None of the 40Gb links are coming up.
The configurations are identical. I am not onsite so I cant verify what kind of fiber is being used, but I assume its the same as the equipment that works.
Any ideas? I am going to try to upgrade but wont be able to perform it right away.

I was trying to bring up VPCs, but just to troubleshoot I went ahead and configured a basic trunk just to rule out my VPC configuration.

Im wondering if maybe these QSFPs wont work with shorter patch cables?

I have been able to get a 40Gb link up between two new NEXUS 9504s, however they are using QSFP-40G-SR-BD transceivers.
Eth1/34 DISTRO-SW1 E1/34 connected trunk full 40G QSFP-40G-SR-BD
