Hi folks,

i've some problems installing the  permanent licence file on 1000v , running ver 4.2.1.SV1 5.2

Software

loader:    version unavailable [last: loader version not available]

  kickstart: version 4.2(1)SV1(5.2)

  system:    version 4.2(1)SV1(5.2)

  kickstart image file is: bootflash:/nexus-1000v-kickstart.4.2.1.SV1.5.2.bin

  kickstart compile time:  8/2/2012 23:00:00 [08/03/2012 08:33:37]

  system image file is:    bootflash:/nexus-1000v.4.2.1.SV1.5.2.bin

  system compile time:     8/2/2012 23:00:00 [08/03/2012 09:34:01]

Hardware

cisco Nexus 1000V Chassis ("Virtual Supervisor Module")

  Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2680 with 2075740 kB of memory.

  Processor Board ID T5056AA6C7E

   Device name: nexus01

  bootflash:    1557496 kB

Kernel uptime is 64 day(s), 13 hour(s), 26 minute(s), 20 second(s)

When i try to install the licence file ( previously put in bootflash from a tftp)  from the bootflash :

  nexus01# install license bootflash:N1KVFEAT2013.lic

Installing license .failed: No space left on device

Usage for bootflash://sup-local

  229548032 bytes used

1365327872 bytes free

1594875904 bytes total

So, apparently, is not running out of space.

There is a debug: direrctory  with a file axis.log, that consumes all the 2M :

ardv-nexus01# dir debug:

    2084864     Apr 05 11:52:17 2013  axis.log

       2858     Mar 21 14:40:28 2013  fm_error_critical.log.vdc_1.2753

Usage for debug://sup-local

    2097152 bytes used

          0 bytes free   *******

    2097152 bytes total

I try to remove the axis.log ( no debug is running), but the file is automatically re-created..

nexus01# sh debug

Debug level is set to Minor(1)

I try to install the license when the file was just 100k, but the result is the same...

Please , anyone can help me.....

License fails to install due to full isan partition

This is due to the apache logs filling up the /isan partition, which also acts as the temporary repository for a newly installed license.  Rebooting the VSM is the quick & easy way to resolve.  We're implementing a permanent fix to flush the logs on a regular basis in a future release.  This issue doesn't affect anything other than installation of licenses.  Once installed there is no affect from this bug.

thanks Robert,

yesterday I've installed the permanent license , performing a switchover of the active VSM on the standby one, because I've noticed that in the standby one the isan partition was used at around 57%. So I installed here the license file at it works.

After the switchover the new sup master was at 60% of use while the sup-standby at 57% , now (14 hours later) the active  is newly full...

I'd like to see what's in the apache logs that is filling up your system.

Would you be willing to do a quick webex so I can take a look at your system?  The plan would be to load the debug plugin and get a copy of the apache logs.  There's no impact to your environment.

If intereseted, please send me a private message with your email and I'll send over a webex invite.

Thanks,

Robert
