I was wondering was their any situation or application when you would prefer using a port on a the Nexus switch over a FEX port? Assuming the port capabilities are the same.
Usually you would like to connect a server directly to parent switch rather then a HIF port when the generated traffic is bursty. This is because FEXs have much less buffer space compared with a Nexus parent switch.
