I'm truly new to all things Cisco, but in the sandbox, I'm trying to export my snapshot to a valid sftp server (I can connect to it with CLI and GUI tools, so I know permissions and hostname etc. are valid). Is there additional configuration I need to do within the sandbox to enable it to see my external SFTP server?

If i follow your ask, you are connecting inbound to your sandbox via VPN to the sandbox, but you are trying to connect to the sandbox to an external server, this is public or back over the vpn - in either case if this your ask, this will not work. As the sandbox (not all, but most) cannot connect to the internet and routing back over the vpn is not permitted.
Correct me if i do not understand your request here.

Hi
Which kind of device is it? You can try, depending on the device, add an entry on the host.conf file your SFTP server and IP as per the message it seems to be a DNS issue

That's a smart solution, but in the sandbox I don't think I have terminal access to any of the machines, so I'm stuck with the web GUI (unless you know otherwise!). I've added Amazon DNS servers and Search Domains to the global DNS settings, but that doesn't seem to help.

Your understanding is exactly correct. I'm sorry to hear this -- what if I use the always-available sandbox instance, which doesn't require VPN connectivity? Is there any way to get this sandbox instance to connect to an external SFTP server?

@pabalogh you can try, some sandbox do have external outbound access, but a large percentage do not for security posture.
