IR829 - 15.8 - IOx Local Manager

After upgrading my dev IR829 to 15.8.  I'm no longer able to access the IOx local manager @ XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:8443

Did something change from 15.7 to 15.8?  My applications are still working on ports 1880 and 8000 but not the IOx local manager.

I downgraded to 15.7 and the IOx local manager is working again.

Hello Paul --

The behaviour has not changed: I'm running an IR829M with 15.9(3)M and the IOx Local Manager is still on port 8443 like before. Do you have some logs of when that happened ("sh iox host list detail" and "sh ip nat translations")?

Did you had to restart IOx guest-of? When that happens it may be that the IP address changes, effectively outdating the NAT mapping to 8443. A reload usually fixes the issue (have you tried that?).

Hi Emmanuel,

Thanks for replying.  Yes, I tried those show commands, everything looked fine.  I stopped/started the GOS, did a reload, reinstalled the GOS - all multiple times.  Nothing seemed to have helped.  IP on the GOS stayed the same as my two web applications continued working and I verified the IP using 'show iox host list detail'.  Only the IOx local manager stopped working.

On an unrelated note, the USB console port will not let me send commands to it after upgrading to 15.7(3)M4b - I can see all the output though.  Tried a new cable, different PC, etc...  Moving to 15.8(3)M3, it didn't fix the issue and the new issue above cropped up.  I suppose I could try 15.9?  In any case, the correct settings for the USB console port are:

line con 0
login authentication local_access
stopbits 1

Correct?

I know this post is old, but we have a similar issue when trying to get to the IOx local manager. We can actually get on the login page of the local manager but the credentials doesn't work even though they are configured in the router (privilege 15 and so on).

Just to let you know, we have plenty of them running just fine with the same configuration (on different versions though), but this particular one doesn't.

Also, when we try to connect via ioxclient, we get the following message: "Cannot authenticate with CAF. Recheck your credentials."

This one is running on version 15.8(3)M4.

Any help will be much appreciate.

You will invariably get weird issues if your IOS, HV and GOS versions are not in sync.
This is unfortunately a pretty common issue with IR829.

For example for IOS 15.8(3)M4, you need GOS version 1.8.4.1 and HV version 3.1.2. Not newer, not older. You need this version. Bundle installations are supposed to upgrade all 3 together, but sometimes this fails, or worse the BOOTVAR image is changed without re-installing the bundle first.

HV version :  show platform hypervisor
GOS version: show iox host list detail (look for "Host OS Version")
IOS version: show version

Upgrade the components to make sure they are all with the versions above and try again.

If none of this helps, try a newer IOS release and/or please open a TAC case, this router is still receiving TAC suport until February 29, 2028.

Hello Emmanuel, thank you for your quick reply.

Effectively, they are different from the one you mentioned:

HV version : 3.1.22
GOS version: 1.15.0.4
IOS version: 15.8(3)M4

Sorry to bother you more, but is there any web page or something to use as a reference for compatibility of the versions.

In any case, we will request our counterpart to upgrade the software of this router.
