Can't open PDF attachment in secure email

I cannot open PDF attachments using Cisco Secure Email Encryption Service. The email opens fine. When I click on the attachment, it goes to a window with the message <Please wait... If this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of the document, your PDF viewer may not be able to display this type of content.> It suggests that you may have to update Adobe Reader. I have updated Adobe Reader, and the message is the same. (My Reader was not out of date anyway.) I have the same problem on Mac and Windows computers (using Adobe Acrobat in Windows), in all browsers, and on mobile devices. I have changed the default PDF app from Adobe Reader to Preview, but then I receive an error message that the file is gone. I have received multiple attachments from the same source, and they always have the same problem. Any suggestions?

Check if Java is causing the problem

The use of the Java applet can be disabled on the ESA under -

Security Services / Cisco Ironport Email Encryption / Email Encryption Profiles

Click on the Profile Name - Go to Advanced Section and uncheck the "Message Attachment Decryption" option to "Use Decryption Applet".

Ruben - Thanks very much. Can you please tell me what ESA stands for and where I might find this on my iMac? I looked at a long list of possible meanings for ESA and did not find anything that sounds appropriate.
