Dear All,

We are in the process the replacing our old MTA (qmail) with Ironport and our environment have 2 companies (A & B) and also we have 2 MAT1 and MTA2,

MTA1 is primary for A and standby for B, Same as MTA2 is primary for B and standby for A by MX load balance,

We have ordered cisco Ironport ESA 380 two devices, We Know mentioned model have a four network card, and our deployment plan was three arm types.

For management purpose we go to use management port and we go to paring the data1 and date2 for incoming mail and paring data3 and data4 for external mail. Also we kept both devices with active/active model (non-cluster).  Ironport1 is primary for company A and standby for company B, Ironport 2 is primary for company B and standby for company B.

Please put your view on this and share your ides any other best method.

Regards,

Mariappan S

Hello Mariappan,

ESA devices can handle more than one domain. You can configure both domain on one device and message will be routed to  mail server as per configuration of SMTPRoutes. As long as there are no netowrk limitations. For example, one device can reach to both A & B company's mail servers.

With the above scenario, both device in a cluster can have same configuration and load balancing can be done via a loadbalancer in front or MX records with same preference.

We will strongly suggest to consult Cisco Sales Engineer , for setup as they can have look on existing network/requirements and advise accordingly.

Secondly,  Pairing the cards is fine.

Thanks
